Sarah Woods

   Since the selling out of her first print in 1988 Sarah Woods' career has enjoyed a growing success. Of her twenty-one releases, eleven have sold out. She has been called "one of the most promising young wildlife artists in the country" by Stephen Doherty, editor of American Artists.
    Sarah feels like she has the perfect home for a wildlife artist. Tucked away high in the mountains of southern Colorado, Sarah lives with her daughters Lauren and Madeleine, and her husband Randy.
      Sarah's paintings are mixed media using gouache, acrylic
and pastel. Using the different water media allows Sarah to combine delicate transparent washes with the more opaque quality of her detail work. The final touches of color and softness are done in pastel. Sarah's work is known for blending strong lighting, color and design while giving the viewer a privileged glimpse of wildlife.
